Nowadays mineralogical analysis is a complex of methods of natural resources research that aims to obtain reliable information on their mineralogical composition and morphostructural characteristics, real composition, structure and properties of minerals composing them.

To obtain reliable information it is necessary to use theoretically substantiated complex of mineralogical analysis methods that is determined not only by the objectives of conducted works, but also above all by the research object itself. Traditional basic complex of mineralogical analysis methods comprises methods of visible-light microscopy (optical-mineralogical, optical-petrographic, mineralographic, optical-geometrical), X-ray phase analysis, methods of analytical electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, luminescent spectroscopy. In compliance with specific natural peculiarities of studied objects there can be incorporated methods of thermal analysis, Moessbauer spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray tomography etc.
