Objectives:

  • study of technological features of ferrous, non-ferrous, rare and precious metals, non-metallic feed;
  • laboratory, consolidated laboratory and consolidated technological tests of ore from exploration deposits;
  • development of methodological support of main and supplementary methods of enrichment of primary products and their chemical and metallurgic processing.

Functions:

  • scientific research on mining and improvement in technology of ore of ferrous, non-ferrous, rare and precious metals, nonmetallic feed, standardization, methodological support of primary and supplementary enrichment methods of primary products and chemical-metallurgic processing of enrichment products. The department also deals with the issues of environmental safety associated with mineral resources’ processing;
  • studies of technological features of natural resources and man-made formations by orders of scientific research and producer organizations;
  • consideration and approval of specifications and guidelines on methods of studying technological features of mineral resources in NSOMTI;
  • participation in preparation of suggestions to the Federal Agency for Mineral Resources on priority areas and technological policy in the sphere of development of national mineral resource base;
  • participation in preparation of the catalogue of science and technology laboratory studies on technology of mineral resources necessary for Federal national programme on geological study and development of Russia’s mineral resource base;
  • participation in expertise and preparation of recommendations to contest applications on technology of mineral resources;
  • participation in expertise of work specifications and requirements to laboratory equipment (on technology of mineral resources);
  • complex and unique laboratory studies of technological features of non-conventional types of mineral resources;
  • participation in interlaboratory comparative tests;
  • development of theories, methods and technologies of radiometric enrichment of solid mineral ore from surveyed deposits and man-made feed;
  • development of new combined flotation schemes of ore enrichment meant for comprehensive extraction of valuable components, development of waste-free technology. The department studies more selective, less toxic and quick-acting chemicals for flotation enrichment of refractory ore complexes;
  • development and implementation of the system of technological testing of solid mineral deposits in the present context of Mineral management. Development of optimal scheme of mineral processing that enables complex use of valuable components including precious metals;
  • development of theoretical framework for gravitational, magnetic and electric methods of enrichment. Development and improvement of technology of gravitational, magnetic and electric separation of ore and concentrates;
  • laboratory and consolidated laboratory technological tests of ore from surveyed deposits;
  • performance and methodological support of pilot tests of ore from surveyed deposits;
  • monitoring of the state and development trends of scientific basis, methods and technology of mineral deposits;
  • Compilation and editing of “Mineral resources” in the part of technological processing;
  • Development of more effective ways of ore processing which enables exhaustiveness and comprehensiveness of their application. Technological assessment of deposit of studied minerals with obtain of necessary data for feasibility study and reserve calculation on deposits;
  • Participation in organization and holding of conferences, meetings, symposiums, seminars, schools and etc. (including international events or events with participation of foreign researchers and specialists).
